What this number does not prove

This is correlation, and the honest reading matters more here than anywhere else on the site. People who complete a credential differ from people who do not in ways the certificate does not cause: they tend to have more time, more capital, more existing career, and a stronger prior commitment to coaching as a profession rather than a side income.

Some of the 31% is the credential opening doors. Some of it is the kind of person who finishes one. No published study separates the two.

Where the credential clearly does the work is procurement. 53% of corporate buyers require credentialing before a contract is signed, and 80% of coaching buyers say they prefer a credentialed coach. That is a gate, not a preference, and no amount of testimonial replaces it.

In consumer coaching, client outcomes and testimonials carry more weight than credentials.

Against the median US coach at $71,719, holders of EMCC or equivalent sit about $3,719 below the middle of the profession.
