Where these numbers come from
Coaching Rates aggregates published industry research. It is not a survey of coaches run by us, and we do not present it as one.
That matters because the coaching industry has very little hard data and a great deal of confident writing about it. Most rate articles cite nothing. This one shows its working, including the parts that are weak.
Every figure on the site carries a source tag. Tap one and it brings you here. Figures that come from practitioner reports rather than a study are marked Est. and should be read as directional.
What this cannot tell you
Aggregators under-count self-employment. PayScale, Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter read from posted roles and self-reported salaries, which skews toward employed and hybrid coaches. A full-time private practice is under-represented in all three.
Marketing spend has no study at all. No large-scale public research exists on what coaches spend to acquire clients. Those figures are practitioner estimates and are labelled as such.
The verified samples are small. 18 life coaches, 60-plus business coaches, and 35 coaches from a single career marketplace. They show the spread of published prices honestly. They are not a population estimate, and a single marketplace reflects that marketplace’s positioning.
Ranges are ranges. Where a source publishes a band, the band ships. We do not collapse it to a midpoint to make a cleaner headline.
